Tips To Improve Your Hair Care Routine This Summer

Summer is a season filled with endless fun in the sun, but it can be tough on your hair. Sun, salt water, and chlorine can all leave your hair feeling dry, damaged, and brittle. This is why it’s essential to take extra care of your hair during the summer months to prevent any damage and keep it looking healthy and beautiful. A good hair care routine can make a world of difference, and with the right tips, you can maintain your hair’s health and shine all summer long.

In this blog post, we’ll share seven tips that you can incorporate into your hair care routine to help you improve your hair’s health and protect it from the harsh summer elements.

Protect Your Hair From The Sun

Just like your skin, your hair can get damaged by the sun’s harmful rays. The UV rays can weaken the hair, causing it to become dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. To protect your hair, you can wear a hat or use a scarf to cover your head when you’re outside. If you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the sun, you can also use a hair product that contains SPF. This will help to protect your hair from the sun’s harmful rays and keep it looking healthy.

Use A Deep Conditioning Treatment

Summer can be harsh on your hair, but a deep conditioning treatment can help to keep it healthy and hydrated. You can use a deep conditioning treatment once a week to nourish and moisturize your hair. You can either purchase a deep conditioning treatment from a salon or beauty supply store or make your own at home. A simple DIY deep conditioning treatment involves mixing equal parts of coconut oil and honey and applying it to your hair for 30 minutes before washing it out with shampoo and conditioner.

You can also schedule an appointment at our Salon for a deep conditioning treatment! All services are done by students with licensed supervision.

Moisturize Your Scalp

A lot of people forget to moisturize their scalp, but it’s just as important as moisturizing the rest of your hair. A dry scalp can lead to itching, flaking, and dandruff, which can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. To moisturize your scalp, you can use a hair oil or scalp treatment. Massage the product into your scalp before washing your hair and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it out.

Use A Heat Protectant

If you’re going to be using heat-styling tools like a flat iron or curling iron, it’s important to use a heat protectant. Heat styling tools can damage your hair, causing it to become dry and brittle. A heat protectant will help to protect your hair from the heat and keep it looking healthy. You can purchase a heat protectant spray from a salon or beauty supply store or use a natural product like coconut oil.

Avoid Using Hot Water

While a hot shower may feel good, it’s not good for your hair. Hot water can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle. Instead, use lukewarm water when washing your hair. Lukewarm water will help to keep your hair hydrated and healthy.

Use A Clarifying Shampoo

Summer can leave your hair feeling greasy and weighed down. A clarifying shampoo can help to remove product buildup and oil from your hair, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed. You can use a clarifying shampoo once a week to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.

Trim Your Hair Regularly

Regular hair trims can help to keep your hair looking healthy and prevent split ends. It’s recommended to get a hair trim every 6-8 weeks. This will help to keep your hair looking its best and prevent any damage from spreading.
